Every year, hundreds of bicycles that would otherwise end up in landfills are donated to Bike City and restored to good, working order by volunteers. This program is our largest, consuming more than 50% of volunteer hours in recycling bicycle parts and refurbishing bicycles.
Using a bicycle for transportation improves the quality of life in our town. We envision a day when everyone in our community has equal access to cycling and its myriad benefits -- financial, economic, environmental, and psychological.
Bike City provides safe, reliable recycled bikes at low or no cost to homeless members of our community, folks on fixed incomes, and other people in need.
Our $30 bicycles are available to the general public. Not everyone can afford a car -- but a bicycle is a wonderful vehicle, and we strive to remove the economic barrier that lies between many of us and urban mobility.
